Nate took the kids to his parents for the weekend, so I got a weekend at home by myself! It went fast and it was fun, but I do miss him and the kids a lot! There's just the little sounds that I miss--the tinkling of Mocha's chains when I come in the door, their giggles, etc. I did have a nice weekend in silence though, don't get me wrong! =) I just couldn't do it for too long...
To look on the bright side, I didn't experience any side effects from the radioactivity (it could have sped everything up--heart rate, pain in neck, etc.) and the other nice thing is that I'm getting to know the ER staff pretty well at our local hospital.
That being said, the bad thing about today is that I had to go to the ER. I was trying to clean out our kitchen and get rid of the thousands of things that we don't use. We have one row of regular cupboards and one row of smaller cupboards up above. (See below...the open cupboard is the one I was working on before I had to go to the ER.)
I was standing on the floor and pulled a box down from up there. As I pulled it down, something came flying down and hit me REALLY hard in the nose. I was confused for a second, I had no idea what hit me...then the blood started.
I was bleeding everywhere--it was on the highchair and the floor and was coming too fast for me to catch it in my hands (like I said--I was confused--it's always hard to catch a liquid in your hands...). So, I leaned over the sink and I was just standing there with blood flowing out all over the dishes. There happened to be a burp rag sitting by the sink, so I grabbed that to hold on my nose while I called someone to help!
I called my neighbor and she kindly came over and cleaned up the blood and called to see if I should go to the ER. We ended up going and nothing was broken, thankfully.
Here is the culprit:
The kid that was my nurse in the ER asked me if we were having a big party or something. I had 3 things I wanted to say to him, but I only let 2 come out of my mouth (the first one I wanted to ask was "who has a big drinking party at 2:00 on a Sunday afternoon???"). I just politely told him that it was actually sparkling apple juice that fell on me and I was alone trying to clean out my kitchen! Then, the x-ray lady asked me if someone "lobbed" the bottle to me (like I was partying...).
If only they knew the circumstances surrounding my weekend...*sigh* I'm not sure radioactive people should throw parties. =)
