It is only logical to think that two extremely sarcastic parents would produce extremely sarcastic offspring. However, Creighton has two sarcastic parents and couldn't figure out how to even make a joke until recently. Until about 6 months ago, Creighton would cry if you teased him or he would get mad if you made too many jokes. He was all serious.
So, what do sarcastic people do? They make jokes about being too serious. =) Nate & I would joke and call our house "the serious house". No jokes allowed here.
Something has changed in the past few months. Not only is Creighton much less serious, but he's actually getting this cracking a joke thing!
On Sunday, I was upstairs getting ready for church and I called him up there. I asked him if he wanted to put on long sleeves under his short sleeve shirt so he wouldn't be too cold. He just said "no thanks". Then he went on to ask me "Why? Did the church fall down? Are we going to have church outside?
I was a little suprised that he would say something with such an attitude, so I looked at him (about to get after him for the attitude) and that's when I saw the little smirk. He was being--you'll never guess--sarcastic!!
Now, I'm not advocating teaching your children to be sarcastic. However, when I looked at him with his little smile after a good joke, I couldn't help but smile a little myself. Way to go, Son. That was a good one.
