ICP Baby #2

Well, for those of you who haven't heard yet...it's back. The itching that I had with Tyson has come in full force this pregnancy. It started around 32 weeks and I just kept trying to pass it off as my skin stretching and swelling, but then it got to the point where there was no mistaking this itch (the actual name of the condition is Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy).

So, I talked to the doctor about it when I was there last Thursday. The doctor that I normally see wasn't in that day, so the other doctor at that clinic came in and talked with me about it. He said he wasn't even going to do the blood test that they would normally do since I'm so far along--they will just plan to induce me early. It would take a week for the test results to even come back. After I described the itching to him he said "I know what this is and you know what this is. We're not messing around with blood tests." What a difference from when I was pregnant with Tyson! I had to go through 6-7 doctors to finally get a diagnosis with him. It's so nice to already be someplace that they understand and will do what they can to help.

He wants me to take Benadryl for the next week and then let them know if it worked or not. So far, it's not working. It didn't work with Tyson either. When I go back this Thursday they will do some testing on the baby (including an ultrasound) and then we'll hopefully know more about when they might actually do the induction. At last weeks appt. (34 weeks) he said they would do it "within a couple weeks".

This is just one thing I did to myself when I was pregnant with Tyson (I wish I had taken more pictures of the bruising and scratch marks everywhere else):

I can see something similar to that coming soon on my feet...they're starting to break open a little already.

So, please pray for endurance for me over the next couple of weeks and pray that this little guy will be ready to make his entrance into the world a little bit early! We pray for him to be as ready as Tyson was and not spend any time in the NICU or have any problems!

Rockstar!

Today Tyson was playing with our Wii drum set. He was hitting the pads with the sticks, using the foot pedal and singing "my daddy a rockstar" at the top of his lungs over and over.

Oh yeah, and add in the fact that he had just gotten out of the shower, so he was completely naked! It was quite the sight! =)

It's gonna be hard...

Addy has some deep thoughts in the van. She sits in the back all by herself and then just comes out with some random thoughts here and there. Today, she said "Mom, it's going to be really hard when the baby is born with Tyson around." In my head I was thinking "nooo kidding!", but I said "oh yeah? why do you say that?" She said "well, it's not like be able to ever lay the baby on the floor...or anywhere really. Tyson will just run him over with his dump truck or maybe smack him in the face or something. You're gonna have to watch this baby really, really close."

Big Brother

The kids went to a big brother/big sister class at the hospital yesterday morning. They made some cards for the baby for when he's born and they practiced swaddling and diapering the dolls. I was suprised at how well my oldest two could change a diaper--they've been holding out on me! Although, they need to make dolls that will pee while you are changing them--that would be a little more realistic! =)

Tyson didn't really get too into it until he got to hold the babies (dolls) and see the babies in the nursery! A nurse brought a baby up close to the nursery window for all of the kids in the class to see. After she walked away with the baby, Tyson looked at me and said "HEY! Where'd my baby go??" I think he could be a little possessive of his baby when he's actually born... =)

I forgot the camera so I had to use my phone...the quality is a little rough, but you can still see the proud look on his face! He's breaking one of the most important rules by standing and holding that baby.

A Letter to a Friend

Dear Productivity:

It was SO good to see you today! I know I have been pushing you away for the past 7 months or so, but I'm glad you came back for a visit. I can't believe how much we accomplished during your visit today: helping Addy organize her room, washing sheets, catching up on laundry, making a wonderful supper, and so much more. I'm sorry I fought you on mowing the lawn. I know you thought I should do it, but when I opened the door and felt the humidity I just couldn't.

I know it hasn't seemed like it, but I really do miss you. It's nothing against you, but I will probably push you away again for the next couple of months. Please don't take it personally. I hope you will consider coming back and staying for good around mid-September...er...maybe we better say mid-October to be on the safe side.
